David E. Kelley’s Lincoln Lawyer series finds a new home on Netflix with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the lead role
Matthew McConaughey starred in the 2011 adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer, and a CBS series version was abandoned in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
Now, another version of the series from David E. Kelley has found a new home on Netflix with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the lead role of Mickey Haller.
The first season of The Lincoln Lawyer, consisting of 10 episodes, based on the novel series by Michael Connelly, will focus on the second book, The Brass Verdict.

The CBS creative team remains the same for the new incarnation with Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Undoing) and showrunner Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife), who serve as writers and executive producers.
Connelly and Ross Fineman will also produce the executive production.
With the cast of Mexico-born character Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) in the title role, the series will honor the Latin origins of the story.
Lawyer Lincoln revolves around Mickey Haller (Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law firm in the back seat of his Lincoln Town car as he tackles large and small cases in Los Angeles.

“Manuel is Mickey Haller’s ideal, as Haller follows in his father’s footsteps with the show of his mother, a Mexican movie star,” Connelly said in a statement on Netflix.
“Manuel brings a strong dynamic and dimension to the role – one that aligns with the books and will give the show the opportunity to celebrate the legacy of Latinx and the roots of this Los Angeles story.”
Connelly added: “The series will be adapted to serve the complex and mysterious arcs that fans know and love with a mix of light humor and a dose of family dynamics.”

The role of Mickey had been scheduled to be played by Logan Marshall-Green in the CBS version. Mickey’s second ex-wife, Lorna, who was to be played by Kiele Sanchez, will also be reformed, according to him. Deadline.
The search for a director for the new series is still ongoing.
So far there is no word on an official award date.
