According to an internal FBI bulletin obtained by ABC News, armed protests are planned at all 50 state capitals and the US Capitol starting this week and running at least on Inauguration Day.
The FBI has also received information in recent days of a group calling for “storming” courthouses and administrative buildings of the state, local and federal governments in the event that President Donald Trump is removed from office ahead of the inauguration day. The group also plans to “storm” government offices in every state on the day President-elect Joe Biden is to be inaugurated, regardless of whether the states have certified election votes for Biden or Trump.
“The FBI received information about an identified armed group planning to travel to Washington, DC on Jan. 16,” the bulletin read. “They have warned that if Congress tries to remove POTUS through the 25th Amendment, there will be a massive uprising.”
Federal law enforcement officials have advised police agencies to increase their security position in state houses across the country following the riot at the Capitol, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Following Wednesday’s violent pro-Trump violation of the US Capitol, Democratic lawmakers in the House of Representatives pushed through on Monday with an attempt to get Vice President Mike Pence and the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment, preventing Trump from enacting. presidential duties and would install Pence as acting president until Biden is inaugurated on January 20.
The attempt was eventually blocked by Republican Representative Alex Mooney from West Virginia, and House Democrats then introduced an article about impeaching Trump for “inciting insurgency.”
The measure, which has more than 200 Democratic co-sponsors, states that Trump has “ demonstrated that he will continue to pose a threat to national security, democracy and the constitution if he remains in office and has acted in a manner that is highly incompatible with self-government. and the rule of law. “
According to the FBI, about 29 individuals and / or social media accounts were identified on Sunday from individuals who had entered the Capitol unlawfully.
The FBI has received nearly 45,000 digital media tips that are now under review.
At least five people died in the siege of the Capitol, including Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick. The FBI bulletin said Sicknick “died of injuries sustained in the Capitol breach.”
