I’ve seen some amazing ports on the Switch, the most recent of which is exceptionally good DOOM Eternal. Although we know that the Nintendo console is not as powerful as the latest Sony and Microsoft hardware, it is clear that, in the right hands, it can still host some impressive titles.
However, not every game is meant to come to the Switch and it would seem that Desperados III – which is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC – is one of these games. Mimimi Games chief designer Moritz Wagner was recently asked about the potential of a Switch port and replied:
So we also love the Switch, especially our boss – he’s a big fan. I don’t think it will work. We’ve been trying this for a while. It’s something that always comes up again. Sometimes THQ says, “Well, we could get these people to look at him. Maybe he could make a port.
The problem is that the game is very demanding – especially CPU, which is a big problem for normal consoles that already run this game. Which sometimes you might not believe, because it’s not Red Dead or something, right?
… I don’t think it will happen. I hope it could happen at some point. We always reevaluate it if something new appears, but the game doesn’t work very well. Maybe there’s a new version of the Switch that’s a little more powerful – it’s something we can look at again. I’m not sure if he’s looking at something right now, but not sadly in the near future.
Did you hope to see Desperados III on the Switch?
