NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Two people are hospitalized after suffering burns due to a house fire early in the morning.
Authorities said they were inside the house when it caught fire. The call came at 5:47 a.m., according to the Miami Dade Fire Rescue.
Neighbors told Local 10 News that they heard a loud explosion coming from an efficiency behind a house, just off Northwest 36th Avenue on Northwest 33rd Court.
The force of the explosion was so great that it threw part of the roof of the efficiency into a house next door.
Surveillance video captured the explosion.
“I mean, it shook this place,” said neighbor Sylvester Williams. “The whole neighborhood was shaking like a bomb.”
Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread to neighboring houses.
“The units arrived to find a strong fire from outside the building invading the interior. They had a fire attack and found a few victims, “said Ryan Rothenberg of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The conditions of the two people are unknown at this time, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
