San Pedro Sula, Honduras

The candidate for mayor of San Pedro Sula for the Yanista Movement of the Liberal Party, Roberto Contreras, has resigned from the position he aspires to.

The businessman will not run in the next primary election for personal reasons, according to a statement from the Yanista Movement’s national campaign commission.

“Our friend Roberto Contreras, the mayoral candidate for San Pedro Sula, has decided not to run in the next election for personal reasons. We appreciate his friendship and his intentions to change the course of Honduras,” they said.

“We appreciate that the pictures with Roberto Contreras continue to support our candidate for the presidency of Honduras, Yani Rosenthal, in order to achieve the change that Honduras needs, “they said in a statement.

Contreras also dropped his pre-presidential candidacy when he ran for the Liberal Party’s “Climb the Victory Train” movement.

On September 14, the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras was convened primary elections to be held on March 14, 2021.
