Allegedly a synthetic drug seized in four jars of protein at Las Americas airport

Agents of the Specialized Air Safety and Civil Aviation Corps (CESAC), supported by members of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), confiscated four jars of protein filled with a substance alleged to be synthetic marijuana in the last hours.

According to the details, CESAC and DNCD officials, accompanied by customs members of Las Américas International Airport, proceeded to requisition, together with canine units, several imported goods from Miami, Florida, USA. Warehouse number 5 of Liberty Express mail.

Authorities did not disclose the exact amount of the drug seized or its specific weight.

During the searches, anti-narcotics and security agents detected the bottles in Miami, United States.

The first two bottles of the Whey Protein brand arrived in guide number WRO1 308651120 sent by a private company on a flight of the shipping company UPS, through the old cargo terminal of Las Américas airport.

In the second case, the CESAC and DNCD authorities also confiscated a cardboard box with two bottles of MUSCKE MILK and Thick brand proteins, each containing a package of vegetables believed to be marijuana.

The package had reached the freight terminal through the warehouse of the same company of the shipping company Liberty Express, which operates in warehouse number five of import withdrawals.

From the terminal, the packages will be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine if it is synthetic marijuana, a drug with artificial chemical compounds that make it more dangerous.

Meanwhile, the National Directorate for Drug Control DNCD and the General Directorate of Customs and the Public Ministry have initiated an investigation into both cases.
