A Metro-North worker called in sick to join the mob that stormed the U.S. Chapter – and was suspended amid an FBI investigation into his role, The Post reported.
Will Pepe, a worker at Metro-North’s Brewster railroad site, is being investigated for participating in the crowd that briefly stopped Congress while certifying the election of President-elect Joe Biden, the MTA confirmed.
Pepe, 31, of Beacon, NY, called the patient ill on Wednesday to attend the event, an MTA source said. He has been suspended without pay because the agency is trying to fire him.
“Effective immediately, this person has been suspended from Metro-North without pay and will be disciplined in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement pending an investigation,” MTA spokesman Ken Lovett said in a statement. .
“This alleged conduct is ugly and goes against the values of Metro-North, New York and the nation.”
The seven-year-old MTA employee did not return a call for comment.
