A motorist was injured Thursday when his vehicle collided with a utility pole on Las Positas Road in Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara Fire Department.

Emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. to Block 2900 in Las Positas, where the silver sedan had been cut from the southern California Edison Pole adjacent to the municipal golf course, fire engineer Kevin Corbett told Noozhawk.

The driver, a 40-year-old man whose name was not available, suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Details of his condition were not available.

Edison crews in Southern California responded on the spot to repair utility lines, and Las Positas was closed between Stanley Drive and McCaw Avenue during repairs.

Some customers in the area were reported by the power after the crash, which was investigated by the Santa Barbara Police Department.
