The parties on San Sebastián Street will be virtual

The chorus of “I’m going up, I’m going down, if you live the way I live, I live hesitantly,” which traditionally resonates on the streets of Old San Juan in two weeks in January, will be heard this year from homes in Puerto Rico , because still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, massive events such as the Festivities on San Sebastián Street are refused.

In response to this new reality, Antonio Morales, the new director of the San Juan Department of Art and Culture, in coordination with Miguel Romero’s new municipal administration, is organizing a special online edition, which will begin on Friday, January 29 and run until Sunday 31.

“What we will do this year is something special in which we will take advantage of this situation to remind people of the purpose of the parties,” anticipated the newly appointed producer and community leader.

“There are many young people who listen to Fiestas from SanSe and what they think is that it is a vacillation to dance, to hesitate, to drink and the tradition has been lost, the meaning has been lost, so let’s take this moment with a kind of documentary which we film to remind people of the purpose of this, “he explained.

The virtual parties of the fifty-first edition will divide the offer as follows:

First day: The projection of the content of history, including the economic impact it generates for the city and the country, as well as the positioning it offers in the eyes of the world.

The next day: Artistic offer through pre-recorded presentations.

The third day: Family entertainment, from music to craft workshops.

The artisans will have a larger exhibition, and for about a month more of their profiles will be highlighted, so their works will be more visible to those who want to buy them through a platform that will be announced next week.
