President Luis Abinader announced on Wednesday that the National Institute of Housing will become the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Public Works will be used only for infrastructure, as recommended by specialists and international organizations.
The president’s statements were given at a press conference with representatives of his economic team and several ministers.
Carlos Bonilla, the current director of INVI and the team that accompanies him in this management, will continue to lead this new ministry.
In this regard, the Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla, assured that “the process of liquidation and restructuring of some state institutions is going at a good pace”.
He said that next week a second group of about 50 works will go from OISOE, an entity that will disappear, to Public Works.
He added that institutional adjustments are being made in the other institutions so that everything remains within the law.
He indicated that for the first quarter of this year will be completed this process of liquidation of these institutions.
