The plenary session of the Central Electoral Council (JCE) called on political parties, groups and movements to give their written opinion on the numerical order in which they should appear on the ballots.
Also, in its ordinary administrative session, the plenary requested that it be sent in writing the opinion of political entities on the distribution of the economic resources they receive by the state.
This was arranged in response to the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
The above-mentioned opinion must be submitted by the General Secretariat of the JCE and, for these purposes, they have until Friday, 15 January 2021, at 14:00
The Agency also indicated that, from the expiry of the deadline, it would study the various opinions submitted and subsequently issue the corresponding resolution.
Abinader calls for reduced resources
In November last year, President Luis Abinader reiterated his position of giving political parties 50% less than the budget allocated by the Central Electoral Council, especially given the economic situation the country is going through as a result of the pandemic.
The governor also argued that the measure would be transitional and that, as it was not an election year, political organizations could be properly managed with 50% of the funds delivered to them.
The rest of the resources will be allocated to the construction of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, which students in that area have been asking for for years.
