After a few hiccups that got the next UFC championship fight in the October in the octagon category, Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling finally have a new meeting.
Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie on Thursday that contracts had been issued to Yan (15-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Sterling (19-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) for the March 259 UFC event, raising the battle card in three championship matches.
People requested anonymity because the UFC has not yet made an official announcement.
UFC 259 takes place on March 6. The location and location have not been disclosed, but the main book is running in pay-per-view mode after the first scheduled programs on ESPN and ESPN +.
Yan has so far organized a brilliant undefeated race in the UFC, defeating all the enemies that stood in front of him. After Henry Cejudo released the £ 135 title earlier this year, Yan claimed the free belt against Jose Aldo at UFC 251 last July.
He was due to make his first defense at UFC 256 in December, but was forced to retire due to personal issues.
Sterling, 31, has won the title with a series of victories in five fights and victories in seven of the last eight fights overall. He will launch a quick presentation in the first round of Cory Sandhagen at the UFC 250 in June.
