Mets is approaching trade for Indians Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrasco

The first significant sign has arrived that this is a new era of Mets baseball.

The team is concluding a transaction with the Indians to acquire him on the shortstop Francisco Lindor and the titular pitcher Carlos Carrasco, confirmed Joel Sherman from The Post.

Shorts Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario, along with outfield prospect Isaiah Greene and pitching prospect Josh Wolf will head to Cleveland.

Lindor, 27, will be a free agent after this season and it has long been thought that Cleveland will be the superstar.

Four times the All-Star would be a significant upgrade to the left side of the Mets field and would be the first major move of the Steve Cohen era.

Carrasco, 33, missed the end of the 2019 season while battling leukemia. He thrived in the shortened 2020 season, posting an ERA of 2.91 and 82 hits in 68 innings over 12 starts and was the player of the year.
