Police used tear gas and stun grenades to drive pro-Trump protesters out of the Federal Capitol before 7 p.m.
Police put on gas masks as they removed protesters from the Capitol grounds. Earlier, there were violent clashes between police and protesters.
Hours earlier, dozens of supporters of President Donald Trump crossed the security perimeter and entered the Capitol as Congress gathered to confirm Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Officers were seen fighting both inside and outside the building.
