The 21c Museum Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky, unveiled on Wednesday the retro room from the 1960s, inspired by The Queen’s Gambit – which reserves reservations for both fans and chess enthusiasts.
The Harmon Room has a chessboard art installation above the bed, mimicking the drug-induced visions that Beth Harmon (Johnston Island) turned the orphan into the chess of the Netflix show.
Lexington happens to be Beth’s hometown, and the room includes a guide to the area’s landmarks featured in the seven-episode series based on the 1983 novel by Walter Tevis, originally from Lexington.

The modern furniture and accessories of the boutique hotel room were selected by interior designer Isabel Ladd, conservative Lucy Jones and Alex K Mason of Ferrick Mason Inc.
“I’ve been collecting furniture from that era for the last three decades,” Jones said.
“It’s a pure joy to bring to life the rich scenes on the page and the screen.”

Time Machine: Lexington happens to be Beth’s hometown, and the room includes a guide to area landmarks featured in the seven-episode series based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel from Lexington.

The time capsule echoed the many luxury hotels where Beth (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her enterprising adoptive mother Alma Wheatley (Marielle Heller) have been on chess tournaments.
Only for a limited time, guests can play on the locally made chess set and look at the personalized chess-themed wallpaper called The Knight’s Gambit in the “captivating experience”.

Ladd added: “When I watched The Queen’s Gambit, I would stop and come back just fascinated by all the colors and patterns of the game.”
