PA COVID: Mass vaccination facilities coming to Montgomery, Delaware counties

DREXEL HILL, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – Plans are being made to protect Delaware and Montgomery residents from COVID-19.

Large vaccination sites will help administer doses to as many people as possible.

But many residents say they still have a lot of questions about the launch.

I met a group outside Wawa in Upper Darby who said they were looking for more information.

“It’s a bit vague as to how many are available and when it will be more widespread,” said Patrice Dorfman of Drexel Hill.
The rich Gallagher of Drexel Hill said, “He needs to tell us more about what he is and what he will do.”

Dr. Monica Taylor, vice president of Delaware County Council, told Action News where the county is when it comes to administering the vaccine.

“We are around 4,500 vaccinations so far, the first round,” Taylor said.

Dr. Taylor also said he plans to open three mass vaccination sites, including one in Yeadon.

“It will be at our wellness center, so this is a defined site and then we look at two sites in the middle of the county and one site on the west side,” Taylor said.

However, she says the priority now is health workers. As for everyone else, she said: “It will be a smooth situation and we will learn as we go and make adjustments as it happens.”
Action News has learned that there will also be a mass vaccination site at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell. The site is scheduled to open on Wednesday.

“Our goal is to reach up to 2,000 a day, but we probably won’t reach this by the end of January. So our immediate goal is 1,000 a day, but that depends on how much vaccine we get,” said the interim administrator. of health. Janet Panning.

People will need to register on the COVID-19 website in Montgomery County, but, as in Delaware County, Montgomery County is focusing on vaccinating front-line health care workers.

For the past two weeks, I received the vaccine Wednesday morning and received 2,000 doses each time, Panning said.

Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said Monday that 135,044 Pennsylvania residents have been vaccinated so far. She says it will be several months before the wider population can expect to receive the vaccine. It provides a meeting style system to avoid long strings when launching the extended launch.
