Madeleine McCann’s parents, who have been missing for more than 13 years, say they still hope to find her – even though the search has recently been hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.
Writing a New Year’s message on the official website of the Find Madeleine Campaign, Gerry and Kate McCann said their thoughts and prayers are with all those who suffered in 2020, according to The Sun.
“Of course, the investigation to find Madeleine was forced to slow down due to the pandemic,” they wrote. “But the hope, the energy and the determination to find it and to discover the truth did not stop, they remain stable.”
The British baby disappeared in May 2007 from her parents’ rental apartment in a resort in southern Portugal. He was 3 years old at the time.
Christian Brueckner, a convicted German rapist, is the main suspect in the case, although prosecutors say they do not have enough evidence to detain him in the McCann case.
