Packers’ Aaron Rodgers throws 46th TD pass with 72-yarder to Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Aaron Rodgers landing step, 46 times.

The Green Bay Packers defender set a one-season career – and a franchise record – with his 46th touchdown pass in the second quarter on Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

And he deserves Rodgers for recognizing what’s next.

The Bears threw him into the corner of Duke Shelley, telling Rodgers he needed to get rid of the ball quickly. With Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the right slot against defender Danny Trevathan, it was a slight mismatch: one of the fastest receivers in the NFL against a defender.

The result was an untouched touchdown of 72 yards.

Rodgers has two touchdown passes over 70 yards this season – both to Valdes-Scantling. The other was 78 yards against the Jaguars in Week 10. This is the first time Rodgers has had 70 70-yard touchdown passes since 2014, when he had three.
