Woman dies after car blows up and crashes in Pembroke Park

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A destructive accident overnight in Pembroke Park left one person dead.

It happened along Hallandale Beach Boulevard between 40th and 48th Avenue.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that a car was traveling east on Hallandale Beach Boulevard when it lost control and went into the air, crashing into a commercial market.

Authorities said the driver of the car, which lost control, was a woman and was evacuated from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the first respondents.

At least six parked vehicles were damaged in the single car accident. One of these vehicles was pushed through the front doors of the Thirsty Bar.

Thirsty’s employees said they were closed and cleaned when the accident occurred.

Broward Sheriff’s Office units blocked part of the road for much of Sunday morning.

An investigation is underway into the causes of the accident.
