Arik Gilbert, recruit no. 6 of ESPN in the 2020 class, says it enters the NCAA transfer portal.
Gilbert announced his plans on Twitter.
“After a careful analysis and collaboration with my family, I decided to enter the transfer portal”, Gilbert wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank God for giving me his blessings.”
Gilbert, 6 meters and 5 kilograms, of 249 pounds, ranked third in the team, with 35 receptions and had 368 receiving yards and two touchdowns in eight games for LSU.
On December 9, he gave up the rest of the LSU season. Coach Ed Orgeron has said he hopes Gilbert will return to the Tigers in 2021.
Gilbert, Georgia’s closest ESPN player and best prospect in the 2020 class, chose LSU in both Georgia and Alabama. His name has not yet appeared on the transfer portal.
