Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia was sworn in today, Saturday, as governor of Puerto Rico at the Supreme Court headquarters in an act that was not open to the public, but which formalizes his entry into office in the executive branch.
The event was scheduled for 8:00 and was led by President Maite Oronoz Rodríguez. The new president posted the last part of his oath on his Twitter account. The video shows his sister, Caridad Pierluisi, accompanying him.
“She is OK. I have already entrusted myself to the Lord. And again very eager to get to work. Now the beginning of this new administration is formalized and, as soon as I give my message, which is a message that I hope will motivate our people to unite in these four years and make a difference, I go to Fortaleza to work and give executive orders why not waste time, “he said when he arrived at the Alto Foro with his family.

The event in front of the House of Laws will be attended by 400 people. The conglomeration in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic has been criticized by doctors and health professionals. However, the CEO’s team indicated that it complies with the health protocols of the Department of Health.
Wanda Vázquez Garced was appointed governor of Puerto Rico on August 7, 2019, almost a week after the resignation of Ricardo Rosselló Nevares.
The then Secretary of the Department of Justice took office by constitutional succession following the resignation of then-Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares.
The former women’s lawyer and former prosecutor, in principle, indicated that she does not want to assume the government after the resignation of Rosselló Nevares.
However, Vázquez Garced changed his mind after the Supreme Court ruled that the appointment and taking of Pedro Pierluisi’s oath as governor was unconstitutional.
Vázquez Garced was accompanied by her husband, Jorge Reverón, and their daughter Beatriz.

Ricardo Rosselló Nevares was sworn in as governor number 12 under the Commonwealth Constitution of Puerto Rico on January 2, 2017. Supreme Court President Maite Oronoz Rodríguez was responsible for taking the oath.
Washington-based Commissioner Jenniffer González accompanied Rosselló Nevares during a ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.
The Rosselló Nevares family, including his wife, Beatriz, and former governor Pedro Rosselló González, were also present at the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony.
Thousands of people accompanied Rosselló Nevares on his walk from the Capitol to La Fortaleza.
However, Rosselló Nevares did not end his four years in office, as the Telegram chat scandal led to protests that forced him to resign on June 24, 2019.
Alejandro García Padilla overtook Luis Fortuño, who was seeking a second term as governor, in the 2012 elections. The oath took place on January 2, 2013 at the Capitol.
García Padilla defeated Fortuño in a close contest.
Thousands of people came to the Capitol to witness the swearing in of García Padilla.
The audience accompanied him and his wife, Wilma Pastrana, on the traditional journey from the Capitol to La Fortaleza.

The next day, the Symphony Orchestra held a concert in honor of García Padilla.
