Cedrick Dort will not play in the Gator Bowl

When Kentucky starts with NC State tomorrow at noon, they will do so without Cedrick Dort. Dort announced the news via Twitter tonight.

This morning, coach Stoops announced that the team is 100% after eliminating the last round of COVID tests. It is unclear whether Dort’s status is due to his resignation or some other unforeseen circumstance.

This season, Dort has allowed seven receptions on 11 targets for 72 meters, with ten approaches as well. It has two deviations a year. Dort did not see many catches in 2020 behind Kelvin Joseph, but the South Florida native saw a massive increase in catches against South Carolina after Joseph gave up a few days earlier.

Kentucky will now look for Carrington Valentine and Brandin Echols in the corner on Saturday.

It’s a pretty thin room for Brad White’s defense for Saturday.
