Well-known fashion designer Alexander Wang has strongly denied allegations of sexual abuse against him in recent days, which he called “grotesque” in a statement to local media.
“The other day, I was the subject of unfounded and grotesque false accusations. These allegations have been erroneously amplified by social media accounts that are known to post defamatory material from undisclosed and / or anonymous sources, without any proof or verification of information, “Wang said in a statement to various media outlets.
“He saw how these lies about me are perpetuated as if they were truths, he was angry,” the text says.
The American couturier’s statements come after the Instagram accounts “Shit Model Management” and “Diet Prada”, known for exposing the dark side of the fashion world, shared the complaints of model Owen Mooney, who this month denounced being the victim of inappropriate touching by Wang.
Mooney claimed on the social network TikTok that he was abused by the famous designer during a chance meeting with him in a nightclub in New York in 2017, although initially he did not want to reveal his name.
‘At one point I was alone and a man next to me took advantage of the fact that no one could move and started touching me. Raising my leg, then my legs, which completely paralyzed me because I was “shocked,” Mooney said in a video.
The model explained that when he looked to his left, he saw that the person touching him was a “very famous designer” and that he could not “believe” that he was “doing this”.
After reporting the incident and before comments in the publication suggesting that it was Wang and that they had reported other episodes of harassment by the couturier, Mooney confirmed the identity of his attacker.
Wang, who keeps close friends with models such as sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Kendall Jenner or Kaia Gerber, is known for his extravagant catwalks and after parties.
The “Prada Diet” account also highlighted the fact that Wang hired singer R. Kelly for a 2017 advertising campaign in order to “blur the lines between fantasy and reality” shortly after she was acquitted by allegations of child pornography filed against you.
