No appointment is required to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine in St. Louis County. Johns, says the health department

SF. AUGUSTIN, Fla. – After a day of confusion regarding COVID-19 vaccines that caused long lines at the health department of St. Louis County. Johns, Jake Quigley, the business manager of the county health department, told News4Jax that no appointment is needed to receive the vaccine.

The cars began lining up at 5:30 a.m. Friday, hoping to be shot before the office closes at 3 p.m.

According to Quigley, the telephone system for meeting appointments has collapsed and there is currently no way to reserve a seat. The department’s website said all appointments for this week had been made, but some of the 280 vaccines given on Thursday were for people who had no appointments. Quigley acknowledged that there is confusion and frustration surrounding the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine department.

There is a massive demand that exceeds the supply of vaccines. Quigley said more than 55,000 people are fighting for one of 3,000 vaccines currently available this morning. It is unclear how many vaccines will be given on Friday.

More than 32 cars were queuing outside the Department of Health of St. County. Johns until 6:15 am. Officials will begin vaccinations at 9:00 p.m. The department did not indicate to those who managed to make appointments that they would be offered preferential treatment or first treats.

The health department urges patience.

In Duval, Clay and Putnam counties, the health departments stated that people who show up without an appointment will not receive vaccines.
