SLO County reports 4 more deaths attributed to COVID-19

San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of four more people who tested positive for COVID-19.

Health officials say patients ranged in age from 80 to 100.

San Luis Obispo County now had 74 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

The county added 63 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total number to 9,602 confirmed cases since Dec. 29.

On Monday, county health officials said they expected the daily number of cases to increase in the coming days, due to a discrepancy between county and state reporting and a test break over the holiday weekend.

Currently, 59 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in San Luis Obispo County, including 12 patients in intensive care. Another 2,034 people are recovering at home, and health officials say 7,421 people have recovered.

According to the online dashboard COVID-19 of the state of California, there are currently 23 ICU beds available in San Luis Obispo County.

  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 107

  • Creston – 41
  • Cayucos – 39
  • Avila Beach – 14
  • San Simeon – 8

The location of an additional 34 cases is under investigation, and another 12 are listed as “other”, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
