Bolivia announces the discovery of a gas “megafield” in Chuquisaca

Bolivian President Luis Arce announced the discovery of a gas “megafield” in the southern department of Chuquisaca, as part of the YPFB explorations and the Repsol, Shell and PAE consortium.

“Fortunately, not only will we have a good family holiday, but our Pachamama gives the Bolivians a beautiful gift. Our Pachamama gives us the discovery of a successful megafield,” he told a news conference.

Arce said the discovery was made in the Boicobo Sur-X1 well, located in the province of Luis Calvo, in Chuquisaca, with 1 TCF (one trillion cubic meters) which he entrusted to start operating at the end of 2021.

“Everything indicates that, by the end of 2021, this well will already go into production and will therefore be an important contribution to the entire hydrocarbon policy that is in force for our country,” he stressed, according to the Agency ABI news.

The Bolivian president recalled that this project had a budget of 102 million dollars, of which 74 million dollars were executed for the drilling works that were carried out in an exploratory way.
