Traditionally, the president of the Foundation for Democracy and Global Development (Funglode) was visited by hundreds of people who came to the foundation’s facilities to wish him a happy presence for his birth, but this year due to the coronavirus pandemic they were virtual.
This tradition had its beginnings during the Fernández government, when people approached the National Palace to congratulate it.
Despite the fact that he could not celebrate with hundreds of people around him, the tradition continues, this time practically, because the various accounts of the People’s Force and Funglode will broadcast live the birthday of the former president.
The lawyer and former Vice President of the Republic, Rafael Alburquerque, during Fernández’s term, wrote in his account “Congratulations on your birthday, colleague and friend @LeonelFernandez, thanks to his leadership, DR has kept his democracy”, a message he accompanied with a photo of both.
