The cat escapes from death at the Russian garbage processing plant

This kitten has gone from the pile of garbage to the top cat!

A farmer rescued from a garbage bag a few seconds before his death at a Russian waste processing plant has been named an honorary assistant to the regional environment minister, according to the Moscow Times.

Video material captured earlier this week at the factory in the Ulyanovsk region in central Russia, workers are sorting garbage along a conveyor belt when someone receives the surprise of life.

“The cat did not meow and the bag did not move,” worker Mikhail Tukash told local television. “You had to cut the bag to examine its metals. I was just doing my job. “

The video shows Tukash opening the bag to find the black-and-white cat, which he showed to puzzled co-workers as he stroked her.

If the cat had remained on the conveyor belt, it would have been a few seconds away from consuming all nine lives, the Moscow Times reported, quoting the plant’s director.

“We are bringing the cat to our ministry and all employees will take responsibility,” said the region’s environmental minister, Gulnara Rakhmatulina, according to the report.

The kitten – which will be named through a contest – will serve as an honorary deputy responsible for wildlife protection.

Tukash and the factory manager were also honored with letters of appreciation.

Veterinarians who examined the capricious cat found that it was healthy, well fed and probably domestic.

“If you can’t keep an animal at home, you can give it to a shelter at any time,” Rakhmatulina said, addressing former owners who apparently removed the cat.

According to local television reports, at least three animals were previously rescued at the plant, which is about 430 miles east of Moscow: two red-eared turtles and an African hedgehog nicknamed Vezunka, the Russian word for “lucky.”
