Three greenhouses with more than 1,500 marijuana plants have been dismantled in several residences in Santo Domingo Este, by the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and the Public Ministry.
DNCD spokesman; Carlos Devers, reported that they also occupied some buckets full of vegetables and a large number of bags planted in the germination process.
In the operation carried out at Rivera del Caribe Residential, on Marginal Boulevard, near the entrance to the Juan Pablo II highway, four raids were carried out simultaneously, arresting a woman and three men, one of them of Haitian nationality.
The joint operation involved 12 elite DNCD teams and five prosecutors, where they confiscated six tents for greenhouses, reflective lights, electrical extensions, extractors, fans, transformers, an air conditioning and drip system for plants, fertilizer, compost, a .12 caliber rifle with various ammunition, electronic equipment, personal documents , among other evidence.
Authorities have been monitoring this illicit trafficking network for several months and, according to preliminary reports, were operating in Santo Domingo and most of the east of the country.
The residences, as well as other evidence occupied in the operation, remained in the custody of the public ministry as part of the investigation..
DNCD and the Public Ministry activate the location of other members of this network dedicated to the cultivation, preparation and sale of marijuana.
The plants of the alleged marijuana, with a height of one meter to three feet, as well as packaging and bushes in the germination process, were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the appropriate purposes.
Authorities warn that they will continue to close the fence to arrest and bring to justice members of drug trafficking networks, money laundering, organized crime, and other related crimes.
