The new mechanic Champion Edition and receives the clip of the anime car

D represents “Initial Dan”?

Many Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition players had hoped to receive Dan Hibiki and Season 5 updates in time for Christmas, but we now know that this will not happen until after Valentine’s Day next year.

This does not mean, however, that there are not some potential clues to try to undo them this holiday season.

Edwards, Capcom’s chief community and eSports director, Matt ‘TheStreetWriter’ Edwards recently made a trip to the company’s offices for work before posting that he could stay “to test some moves and mechanics”.

Of course, this led to a lot of comments and questions about SF5’s new combat mechanic and what he meant by “movements”, but there was one that stood out in particular.

A fan asked Edwards for any vague clues that the community might be chewing this holiday season, to which the longtime Capcom representative responded using a GIF of a race car.

The clip itself seems to come from the original anime D, as one of the characters seems to start deviating, and it’s probably as vague as they come.

There are obviously few things based on the clip itself, but it sparks the imagination of trying to tie this into some kind of fighting game.

Guilty Gear Strive’s new Roman Cancel, which allows characters to move while stopping, was originally called Drift Roman Cancel by some fans, but it would be pretty weird for a game like SF5.

The car also seems to be accelerating, so there may be something in terms of speed or movement in the books, although it is doubtful that Capcom would follow the Street Fighter 5 Turbo route.

Maybe the classic car bonus stage will have a comeback if we take that pretty literal tweet.

Because Edwards is known and has fun / jokes with the community, there’s also a strong possibility that it’s just a troll post to keep fans talking and guessing until more concrete revelations come out – or maybe using GIF as a fun way to get out of the conversation.

All will be revealed, most likely, on the weekend of the Capcom Cup, which is scheduled to take place between February 19-21, 2021, when it finally unleashes Dan and everything he owns in season 5.
