Alleged FARC leader arrested in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo – The Dominican authorities on Sunday arrested Puerto Ricans Vladimir Natera Abreu and Joset Jomar Rivera Verdejo, the first of them believed to be the alleged leader of the FARC criminal structure, accused of drug trafficking and committing several murders on the island.

The two were arrested in an exclusive sector of the Dominican capital during a joint operation by the Office of the Attorney General and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), assisted by Marshals of the United States, the first of those agencies reported. .

Authorities reported that both drug traffickers are being held at DNCD headquarters and taken into custody by US agents.

In the next few hours, the process will begin for their delivery to Puerto Rico, where they will be filing cases with the Justice Department for crimes related to drug trafficking.

On March 11 last year, Dominican anti-drug addicts reported the arrest of two men and a Puerto Rican woman linked to the group allegedly led by Natera.

Janelys Delgado Rey, credited as Natera’s partner, Alexis Cabrera and Fernando Hilario Figueroa, aka ‘Playita’ or ‘El Boti’, were arrested in parallel operations with the support of United States federal agents overseen by the Dominican public ministry .

According to the Dominican agency, those arrested and prosecuted are being asked by US authorities to join a criminal network known as “Los Cocodrilos” for allegedly throwing their victims at these reptiles.

It has also been reported that US authorities have seized assets in excess of $ 75 million.
