A third COVID-19 vaccine could be phased out by federals immediately after January, a federal health official said Sunday.
“The next vaccine to come, which would be J&J [Johnson & Johnson] or Janssen. We would expect this authorization to be submitted in January, “ABC News presenter George Stephanopoulos, Admiral Brett Giroir, who is part of the White House COVID-19 working group, told Step Weekop.
“We do not know the results. But we are very full of hope, by January we will have at least three vaccines, with …
Giroir, assistant secretary in the Department of Health and Human Services, said a vaccine could be available in the United States to “anyone” who wants one by June.
“We are very confident that by June, anyone in America who wants to get a vaccine will have the opportunity to get a vaccine,” he said.
Giroir said that even without a third vaccine, the country is well on its way to distributing 20 million doses of vaccine distributed at least by the first week of January, with shootings from both Pfizer and Moderna being emergency use authorizations have been granted
About 30 million doses are projected for the rest of January and another 50 million in February, Giroir said.
But Giroir stressed that Americans still have to follow public health recommendations – such as wearing a mask – despite the promise of help on the horizon.
“The most important thing Americans need to know is, although we are seeing the end of the pandemic in plain sight – and it will end with widespread vaccination in this country – we have a lot of work to do,” Giroir said.
“Indeed, the lives of tens of thousands of Americans depend on what we do.”
