The next delivery of the Pfizer vaccine from Oklahoma will be lower than expected

COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed to at least 16 sites in Oklahoma. More than 2,200 Oklahomans have already been vaccinated.

The number of people vaccinated is likely to be low, as health care providers have 24 hours to report completed vaccinations. The State Department of Health plans to report the number of vaccinated Oklahomani on a regular basis.

No severe allergic reactions to the vaccine have been reported in Oklahoma, Reed said.

“There are probably some painful arms out there and some people who may have experienced other mild side effects,” he said.

The modern COVID-19 vaccine

With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approving the emergency use of the COVID-19 Modern vaccine this weekend, Oklahoma could see its first shipment from the company as soon as Monday.

Oklahoma officials were told to expect 66,200 doses of Moderna by Dec. 23 and a second shipment of 29,200 doses the following week. More than 30 sites in Oklahoma, including some county health departments, are expected to receive Modern vaccines next week.

Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine does not require ultracold storage.
