Snow storms killed seven in the northeastern United States

At least seven people have died as a result of the nine intense storms that hit the states of New York and Pennsylvania in recent hours, in the northwestern United States, as reported by the chain NBC.

Snow storms have caused hundreds of road accidents in different parts of these two US states. According to data published by the website, more than 25,000 people have been without power on the east coast of the United States as a result of the storms since Thursday night. Power failure.

Until Thursday morning around 10,000 people in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut were without power although supply in that area gradually recovered during the day.

The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has reported the deaths of at least two people from blizzards although he did not specify the causes of the deaths.

Clinton County, In Pennsylvania, two people were killed in an accident on Interstate 80 involving several dozen vehicles and in Snyder County, a driver who collided with his car after losing control while driving through snow has died.

Further, in Pennsylvania, a man was killed by a snow plow in North Versailles on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. In the state of Virginia, a 19-year-old young man was killed in one of 200 road accidents registered by snowfall. More than 15,000 houses were without electricity in this state on Thursday.

In New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on Wednesday morning over snowfall and announced the closure of state offices.

The blizzard hit the east coast of the United States in the early hours of Thursday, amid the vaccination campaign being conducted in the region to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

The winter storm, sweeping over New York, Pennsylvania and other northeastern states, leaves about 12 inches of snow for now a week before Christmas.

It also left more than 60 million people under severe weather warnings from Maine to South Carolina.

New York City was impacted as predicted by the weather, experiencing the most snow per storm in more than four years, after recording more than two feet in January 2016.

In the Big Apple, authorities have prepared a large machine to deal with bad weather, with more than 6,000 workers, some 2,000 snow plows, and 330,000 tons of salt to try to keep the streets clear.
