Jabrill Peppers comes to play the team that recruited him for the first time.
Safety played only two seasons with the Browns after they made him the 25th overall pick in 2017. It wasn’t his choice to leave.
Peppers was part of the trade that sent receiver Odell Beckham from the Giants to the Browns.
Peppers said he found out about the March 12, 2019 transaction on Twitter.
In fact, I was thrilled with the trade, thinking, “I just got Odell,” Peppers said Friday through Mollie Walker of New York Post. “And I keep looking and then I say, ‘Oh, no. I’m not even here anymore.
“And then [former Browns general manager John] Dorsey called me about 15 minutes later and I had already seen the news. I actually talked [Giants G.M. Dave] Gettleman before I talk to Dorsey. It is what it is. This is the nature of this league. I can’t take it personally. But I’m happy. I am satisfied with the result. I’m fine. “
Cleveland also sent offensive guard Kevin Zeitler and their first- and third-round picks in the 2019 draft to the Giants, who included defensive end Olivier Vernon in the deal.
The Giants exercised the option for the fifth year on Peppers’ debut contract, guaranteeing him $ 6.8 million in 2021.
But he doesn’t get into Sunday’s game, trying to prove something to Browns.
