Cuban musician and businessman Emilio Estefan shared a beautiful photo with his over 251,000 followers on Instagram, the last one taken in Cuba after his departure to Spain and which fills him with many memories.
“This is the last photo I took before leaving Cuba. After this photo I did not see my mother for many years and I had very difficult times. But, due to those moments, I am here today and I would not change anything about what I experienced, because I learned from good and bad “, Estefan wrote in the publication.
In the black and white image, from about 60 years ago, little Emilio is seen playing an accordion under the watchful eye of his mother sitting in an armchair in the house.
For all these memories and the life he built due to his own efforts in exile, Estefan feels “grateful for life for everything and especially for a wonderful family”.

Estefan was born in Santiago de Cuba to a Lebanese, Spanish and Syrian family. He left Cuba in 1968 in Spain to later settle in South Florida.
His artistic career earned him 19 Grammy Awards for his work as a music entrepreneur and co-founder of the Miami Sound Machine with his wife, Gloria Estefan. In November 2015, he and Gloria were awarded the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian recognition given by the United States government.
