70-year-old Taco Bell employee Joe Deciccio surprised with life

SOUTH DAYTONA, Florida (WABC) – A 70-year-old Taco Bell employee was caught off guard after his community came together to thank him.

For the past 20 years, Joe Deciccio has worked in a South Daytona store window – sharing smiles and friendly greetings along with food orders.

When a Facebook group was set up to draw the attention of restaurant workers during the pandemic, the employee known as Taco Bell Joe won with a landslide.

An initial $ 50 gift soon grew to thousands as donations spilled over.

He was recently presented with a check for more than $ 6,000.

“They are my clients to whom I owe this. They bring out the best in me. They are them. I could not do this without your help,” Deciccio said. “And I will do my best to rise to her height. And I will spark a light, a small candle in every heart of every person I meet.”

Raj Gohill was among those who contributed to the tip for Deciccio.

“You could have the worst day, until you get through the car there, just smile,” Gohill said.

Taco Bell Joe said he never realized how many people he touched, but his clients give him strength and wisdom.
