6 ways Michigan residents can sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine

LANSING, Mich. – The state of Michigan presented six ways in which residents who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine can sign up to receive one.

Michigan officials said residents have different levels of access to technology, especially those aged 65 and over. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services offers a variety of vaccine enrollment options.

“Our goal is to make sure that every eligible Michigander who wants a vaccine will receive one,” said MDHHS Director Elizabeth Hertel. “We know Michigan residents have different access needs, so we’re working with groups like local health departments, hospitals, pharmacies and 2-1-1 to provide more access points for vaccine enrollment.”

Here are the options.

First, the state encourages residents to visit Michigan.gov/COVIDvaccine for information on who is eligible to receive the vaccine and to see a list of places of administration.

By going through the list of vaccination sites or local health departments, residents can find direct contact information for the nearest vaccine provider.

Residents who do not use the Internet can call the COVID-19 helpline at 888-535-6136.

This telephone line is available from 08:00 until 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Local health departments and hospitals in Michigan have created enrollment forms, interest forms, and waiting lists based on vaccine eligibility.

These health officials will contact residents to schedule meetings as they become available based on the vaccine offer, state officials said.

Residents can also contact vaccination sites directly, such as pharmacies or locations in Meijer, while they start operating.

MDHHS also collaborated with 2-1-1 to help Michigan residents direct to vaccination clinics.

MDHHS and 2-1-1 collaborated to help connect residents to local test sites. The service is free and confidential and connects residents with organizations across the country, providing help to people looking for answers to questions.

There are seven 2-1-1 regional contact centers that manage the state database of health and human services, according to the state.

Just as many other local, state and federal systems have adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2-1-1 has worked with the state of Michigan to help residents across the state with tests, emotional support and now vaccine launch Said 2-1-1 CEO Hassan Hammoud. “We recognize that residents, especially the elderly, need additional support to be able to return to safety safely, and we are proud to play a role in turning a future without COVID-19 into a reality for Michigan.”

MDHHS as well partnership with GetSetUp, a national educational technology company that offers a series of sessions to walk older residents through the state’s registration site.

GetSetUp is designed to help Michiganders find local health departments and register online for a vaccine appointment or be added to the vaccine waiting list.
