CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Virginia – Chesterfield County authorities issued a warning Saturday night after officers were called in for multiple suspected overdose deaths in the past 72 hours.
“Currently, police are aware of six suspected overdose deaths,” Lieutenant Tim Kehoe told the Chesterfield Police Special Investigation Division.
Kehoe said the large number of overdoses in a short period of time probably means that “illegal or prescription drugs that are sold or used are extremely strong and can cause an overdose.”
As a result, officials have urged anyone with an overdose to call 911 immediately.
“Take Narcan / Naloxone if you have access to it,” Kehoe advised. “If you or someone you know needs Narcan, call 804-717-6169. The Chiofield County Opioid Information Coordinator can provide it for free.”
