55 Hours of Salvation !: Ashley Judd’s painful journey after an accident in the African jungle where he nearly lost a leg and even his life

The movie star talked about her odyssey in the Republic of the Congo after breaking her leg into four parts. Judd was transported on makeshift stretchers, motorcycles, and light aircraft to reach a hospital with more capacity to operate her in South Africa.

The actress Ashley Judd he nearly lost his leg after a serious accident in the jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, where he was on an expedition to learn more about the status of the Bonobo monkeys, a species of chimpanzee in danger of extinction. Judd shared the shocking story on his Instagram account after recovering from two emergency surgeries.

Since February 12 last year, the activist and the UN Goodwill Ambassador had not shared anything on her Instagram profile; Yesterday, Judd revealed images and videos of the odyssey he experienced when he fell into the jungle and broke his leg bone into four parts.

According to her report, more than 25 hours of rescue operations passed before she managed to reach a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, so that they could intervene in an emergency. The well-known actress showed that she was taken through the jungle on improvised stretchers, she needed a motorcycle, a van and an airplane to reach a health center with a larger intervention capacity and specialized equipment.

“I came to them from the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in a dire state and my leg had no pulse. He urgently needed a blood transfusion, ”Judd says in his long message, thanking the staff at Sunninghill Hospital, especially his team of nurses and the surgeon who ran his case.

The “High Crimes” actress is very grateful to her Congolese and their utmost care, despite the uncertainty of the jungle. In some of her photos, she shared the faces of men and women who stood by her side for more than five hours until Judd could be seen by professionals.

But it didn’t end in the hospital in the South African capital, no. Judd had to travel to the United States for another operation; so he had to prepare for another 22-hour journey and four flights in an air ambulance. Finally, she was intervened in another eight-hour operation in which “they repaired the bones, decompress the hermorrhagic nerve, and removed the bone fragments in the nerve.”

The famous actress also revealed that her father received the news with a very harsh and direct message: “Emergency, I can’t answer the questions, come now.” Without hesitation, Judd’s father moved to South Africa to accompany his daughter in this accident.

After two operations, the actress recovers from a spectacular fall.

The end of this story is positive, but the road to recovery will be a long one. Judd closed his message in a very emotional way, stating that without the help of the Congolese he might have lost his leg and maybe even his life.
