CALLING Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ The successful Kickstarter campaign would be to underestimate the problems. A spiritual successor to Konami’s acclaimed JRPG series Suikoden, brings together key developers of the former and was first unveiled in August. With the goal of $ 500,000 in crowdfunding, they completely destroyed this goal to reach $ 4.5 million.
The news has been quiet since then, but now we have confirmation that 505 Games will release this game in advance in 2022. Confirmed in a new blog post and YouTube video, Yoshitaka Murayama, leader of Rabbit & Bear Studios, recommended:
We dreamed of developing a game for fans of the genre for many years that celebrates everything we love and we learned as game designers. Our team is looking forward to working with 505 Games to bring as many Eiyuden Chronicles to as many fans as possible around the world.
Eiyuden Chronicle is both a return to the classic RPG games that entertained millions, and a modern, captivating story of discovery and adventure, with a cast of hundreds of fully realized characters. Given their success and history with titles such as Bloodstained and Death Stranding, and thanks to the strong personal relationship we have developed with the people there, we feel we have the perfect partner in 505 Games.
Unfortunately, it does not clarify whether Eiyuden Chronicle will be released on Switch. Rabbit & Bear has previously expressed concern, saying that due to the age of the Switch and lower specifications, this version could be abandoned for Nintendo’s state-of-the-art hardware closer to launch. However, given that Nintendo believes the Switch is only halfway through its life, a successor may not even be available until 2022.
Murayama pointed out a familiar situation, one we’ve seen before with other Kickstarter games, so we can understand the hesitation. At least we know the Eiyuden Chronicle is coming to a Nintendo console.
