5. Oklahoma vs. Iowa State
THE LINE: Oklahoma -5
ATS PICK: Oklahoma
– Bet on this, the last BetMGM line
Take this with a grain of salt, as this is a 63% belief in the heavy analysis that Oklahoma will win this and 35% you will never mess with history and 2% the Pac-12 Championship.
USC should and could have won and covered that Pac-12 Championship at home against Oregon and juuuuuust, while I was going to pick the Ducks, convinced that this year the program should come with something special, I ignored the feelings and gut and left with USC.
It never goes with your feelings and gut, but yes, you have been warned that part of this choice has nothing to do with logic and reason.
And that’s true of the assumption that history matters here – as if 18- to 23-year-old boys on the ground were interested in what happened much less yesterday in the last ten years, much less in the 1890s.
Iowa State has never won a direct conference championship in over 100 meters of college football.
Oklahoma aims to win the absolute conference title – it has eliminated ten of the last 14 Big 12 championship games.
Never, never, never screwed with a stripe. It breaks, you tip the lid and continue the day.
Enough with the madness …
Oklahoma did not have RB Rhamondre Stevenson in the first meeting. He is a hammer with fresh legs to combine in a rotation against a terrible defense in Iowa State, which allowed 114 meters for the first time.
Oklahoma has DE Ronnie Perkins in the first meeting. He has played in only four of the team’s nine games and is still third in the team in sacks and loss approaches.
Also, this is a relatively young team, Sooner, in several places. QB Spencer Rattler has been better and more established as the season has continued, four of the top five catchers are members of the lower class, and the offense appears to be overcoming rotation issues in the first half of the year.
This is a great team from Iowa – it would be great for the fan base if they won – but it’s Oklahoma in a Big 12 championship.
