IRVING, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A mother and father had a close call at an Irving park around 5pm on Friday, February 19th.
The couple and their two children were walking around Thomas Jefferson Park in northwest Irving when their mother slipped and fell through the ice into the pond.

Her husband, trying to save her, also fell.
When the first respondents arrived there, a police officer and firefighter Irving also fell into the water.

The mother is in serious condition. The father was not seriously injured.
Both the officer and the firefighter are expected to be OK.
