4 catch COVID-19 after vaccinations, but avoid serious diseases

Four people in Oregon who were completely vaccinated recently tested positive for COVID-19, health officials said Friday.

Two of the “discovery cases” were reported in Yamhill County, and the others are in Lane County, Oregon Health Authority. he said in a statement.

The four people contracted the virus 14 days after receiving the second dose of vaccine, OHA said, adding that their symptoms ranged from none to mild.

Health officials say less severe cases of COVID-19 reported after inoculation show that the vaccine is still effective.

“Clinical trials of both vaccines currently in use have included discovery cases. In these cases, even if the participants received COVID, the vaccines reduced the severity of the disease, ”says OHA, which is investigating the origin of the cases.

The results of genomic sequencing tests taken from the four patients are expected next week, officials said.

Officials added that they expect to see more cases of discovery and encourage the public to continue wearing face masks, as well as to follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
