32 members of the Political Committee register to be re-elected to the PLD

A total of 115 people aspire to make up the political committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), of which 32 are current members of the body, awaiting ratification and another 83 candidates from the central committee.

The information was provided by Danilo Díaz, PLD’s electoral secretary and member of the organizing committee of the IX Internal Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina, who added that the registration of candidacies ended today at 10 am.

“At the time of closing, there were 115 candidates to be members of the political committee. The 32 who aspire to be ratified will be subject to the same process as the 83 who aspire to be new members and the 43 who get the most votes will be elected” , explained Diaz.

Díaz, who is one of the PC members calling for re-election, said the list of candidates will be published in the next few hours. The elections will take place next Sunday starting at 9 am.

On the same day, the presidency and the general secretary of that party will also be contested, and those who aspire to these positions will have the chance to register their candidacies until the moment before the vote.

“Candidates for general secretary and party president can register on the same day, what we will do is for each candidate to have 3 minutes to motivate them to vote for him,” Diaz explained.

For the general secretary, the aspirations of Rubén Bichara, Andrés Navarro, Charlie Mariotti are known so far. José Laluz, Luis de León and Aristipo Vidal withdrew from the competition (the latter supported Bichara).

For the PLD presidency, beyond the “clamor” that the former president of the Republic Danilo Medina holds this position, no official candidacies have been known yet.
