31 policemen fined for obtaining haircuts

(Newser)
– Dozens of metropolitan police officers turned out to be very expensive haircuts at a police station in East London earlier this month. The force says that the 31 officers who cut their hair while on duty at Bethnal Green station will be fined £ 200 each, around $ 275, and the two officers who organized the session with a barber. Professionals will be investigated for violations, CNN reports. Hairdressers and hairdressers are banned from operating during Britain’s national blockade, and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick recently announced that police will crack down on breaking the rules.

The officers’ commander, Detective Chief Inspector Marcus Barnet, said it was “deeply disappointing and frustrating” that they had violated the regulations they had to apply. “Although the officers donated money to charity as part of the haircut, this does not excuse them from what was a very poor decision. I expect many more of them,” Barnett said in guardian. “The public rightly expects the police to be role models in compliance with regulations designed to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.” He said he hoped that investigations into fines and misconduct would prove “that the police are not immune to the rules.” (Read more stories from the UK.)
