30 flights between Santo Domingo and Eastern United States canceled due to snow storm

Dozens of passengers were stranded at Las Americas International Airport Monday morning following the cancellation of some 30 return flights to New York City, hit by an intense snowstorm.

According to the airport’s Flight Operations report, much of the canceled operations had New York City as their final destination, as did Boston and New Jersey.

The snowstorm, in addition to canceling flights, has also resulted in the closure of schools and colleges and the vaccination program being developed by the state and government.

The airlines affected by the cancellation of operations are United Airlines with three flights to New Jersey’s Libertad airport. JetBlue also has five canceled operations departing from Las Americas Airport to the John F. Kennedy terminal, as well as two to New Jersey and one to Boston.

Meanwhile, Delta Airlines has also canceled four flights from Las Americas International Airport to New York City.

In total, according to data from the Dominican Airports XXI Aerodom company, about 30 return flights to New York and other cities in the United States have been canceled in the past few hours due to bad weather conditions in those cities.

While dozens of travelers who had reservations for the canceled flights have returned home and others are still running errands to change the date and their departure status after the bad weather clears.

Despite weather conditions in the cities of New York, Boston and New Jersey, flights to and from Miami, Florida, through this terminal in Las Americas, continue to operate normally.

In front of the counters of American Airlines, the main airline operating flights to Miami, it was noticed this morning that dozens of people checked their documents and presented their negative PCR or antigen test on board.

Other passengers affected by flight cancellations included Ramón Núñez Solís, who said that God has a purpose for everything and if he wanted him not to travel this Monday, he was calm and happy to spend other days with his family .

“That’s nothing to retake the Covid19 test, the important thing is that we are alive and healthy,” said the passenger, who was scheduled to depart on a JetBlue commercial flight to Boston, USA.
