3 men arrested in Goleta in connection with the Carpinteria robbery | Local news

Three Arizona men were arrested in Goleta on Thursday in connection with a robbery that took place a few hours earlier in Carpentry, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff.

Deputies were sent around 5:40 a.m. to the Chevron gas station in Via Real and the Santa Monica road in Carpinteria after a woman reported being robbed by her companions, said Raquel Zick, the sheriff’s public intelligence officer.

The woman was allegedly with three men in a vehicle when she was robbed by them, and they left her behind and fled the scene, Zick said.

About three hours later, an alert citizen who had learned of the robbery reported to the sheriff’s dispatchers that the suspect’s vehicle, which apparently had a flat tire, was at a tire shop on the 200th block of South Fairview Avenue, Zick said.

Deputies converged on the area and took three men into custody without incident.

One of the men was armed with a firearm, Zick added.

South Fairview Avenue was closed or shortly after deputies arrested the trio.

By mid-afternoon, the three men – whose names were not yet available – were still being questioned, Zick said, and had not been admitted to the Santa Barbara County jail.

Details of the allegations he could make were not available.

Zick congratulated the citizen who alerted the deputies about the location of the suspect, mentioning that he remained at a safe distance while transmitting information.
