The Google Assistant has been running since 2016, so you’ve no doubt chosen a lot of tricks that the Google Voice Activated Assistant is capable of, from setting alarms and timers to performing calculations and searching for definitions. But the number of skills available to Google Assistant is constantly increasing, and there are some you may not have encountered before.
As always, you must put “Google Google” or “OK Google” before each of these commands. Now let’s dive.
1. Take screenshots
A simple “screenshot” will instantly capture a screenshot of your Android device, though you can’t use it on other Google Assistant compatible devices – yet.
2. Play podcasts
Like any other company out there, Google is eager for podcasts. Yesyou can say “play the latest episode of …” followed by the name of the podcast to start listening.

3. Dig into your photos
With Google Photos open on a Pixel phone, you can tell the Google Assistant to “show me pictures with …” a place, then follow it with “those from …” and a specific landmark. Google’s example is “show me pictures of New York” and then “those of Central Park,” so you can adjust your controls to suit your own travels and image collection.
4. Watch your exercise
Wear OS may not be the most popular smartwatch platform in the world, but has a tight integration of Google Assistant. You can use commands such as “follow my race” and “start a bike ride” to start recording the exercise without touching your watch.
5. Watch TV
You can tell Google Assistant to play certain movies, shows, or types of videos on Netflix or YouTube. Just say “play …” and then what you want to watch and on which application. This works with Android TVs and Chromecasts, as well as Android phones and tablets.
6. Find your phone
It works with smart speakers and smart displays with Google Assistant on board. Say “find me your phone” and your phone will start ringing, even if it’s silent – as long as it’s an Android phone connected to the same Google Account as your speaker or display.
7. Control your applications
The Google Assistant can interact with many Android applications, including Mint, Instagram, Outlook, Discord, and Spotify. YesYou can use commands like “search for candles on Etsy” or “send money to Venmo” to save a few touches on the screen. Use the “Show shortcuts” command to see everything available based on the applications you’ve installed.
8. Read articles on the web
If you use Google Chrome on Android, you can say “read it” in the Google Assistant with a webpage open and you will receive the text of the page back.
9. Take a timed photo
Make sure you get the perfect picture every time on Android phones by saying “take a photo in five seconds ”or“ take a selfie in 10 seconds,” adjusting the countdown as needed.
10. Remember where you put things
Google Assistant’s long memory may be a privacy nightmare, but it can help you keep track of where everything is. Tell the Assistant “remember that my backup keys are in the closet” and when you later ask “where are my backup keys?” you will get the correct answer back. You can choose to have the Assistant remember other information, such as your friend’s favorite cake or your closet number.
11. Hear animal sounds
You might be surprised at how much educational content is packaged in Google Assistant for Kids. Try asking, „What sounds like an elephant? ”For example, or choose another animal (The assistant can continue to pick animals if necessary).
12. Wrap slowly
You probably knew that the Google Assistant can play music and set timers, but you realized that you can combine the two – for example, if you’re asleep. Just tell Google Assistant to: „Scomplete the music in … ”and choose your time period to start the timer.
13. Transmit to multiple speakers simultaneously
If you have a bunch of Google Nest speakers and displays around your home, then you can send a message to all at once – say “broadcast” and then your message.
14. Turn a coin or throw a mold
A classic Google search engine trick has gone to the Google Assistant – ask you to “turn a coin” or “throw a die”, and the Assistant compels, with beautiful animation on certain devices.
15. Create and edit lists
Another way to take advantage of Google Assistant’s reminder powers is to manage its lists. If you have a shopping list, for example, you can say: “Add eggs on my shopping list ”and then you hear everything at once with a, „Wis the hat on my shopping list? ”Voice command.
16. Delete voice recordings
You can delete voice recordings that Google Assistant recorded through Google Account Page on the web, but you can also do it through the Wizard itself with commands such as, „Ddelete the last thing I told you,“Or, „Ddelete everything I told you last week.”
17. Turn off the phone
This is only for recent Pixel phones, but it’s useful: you can tell Google Assistant to “turn on Do Not Disturb” to apply silent mode using the current default settings.
