10 tips for a healthy diet for your heart

To help reduce the risk of suffering heart disease and maintain a proper diet for patients with this disease, the online education platform Aprende Institute has launched a free e-book on “Healthy Diets” and shares the following recommendations for heart-healthy diets:

1. Restrict sodium to meals: try to consume less than 1.5 g per day.

2. Eat 5-6 meals throughout the day, including small portions.

3. Drink clear liquids such as water or broth, then follow a soft or gentle diet.

4. Avoid spicy foods.

5. Serve your meals at room temperature.

6. Include foods with potassium, such as bananas, brussels sprouts or spinach.

7. Add whole grains.

8. Exceeding the consumption of foods such as red meat and bread makes you more prone to diseases related to the heart and cardiovascular system, such as heart failure, arrhythmia and heart attacks.

9. It is highly recommended to exercise 30 minutes a day, to reduce stress by resting properly.

10. It is important to go to the doctor for constant checkups.
